There is a belief that improvised jazz cannot be groovy. Heck danced to! My bandmates in America and Europe are aware of my tendencies for the “creative” and improvised. But they know I want people to move and be moved.
It is not always traditional but it is always an attempt to be part of the room’s vibes. I can feel how a set should go. And, sometimes, the setlist does not have the material.
The key for me as a vocalist is to make sure my vocals, words and/or melodies hold the audience while guiding/following the band.
Hopefully, we can bring our vibes and music to your venue.
